Biologicals on priority list for agriculture in India

India though predominantly an agrarian country, Its a GDP is significantly low 18.8% in 2021-22. Post-covid the importance of Agriculture in India has been re-emphasized realizing its potential to grow. Having 2nd largest GDP next to China, India has the highest scope to be a global leader in many superfoods.

In terms of consumption of pesticides and chemicals wise India is much lower, our productivity is too low as our soils lack nutritional levels accounting for depleting organic carbon content in soils.

This time budget has very much emphasized increasing sustainable cultivation, incentivizing the use of sustainable and biological inputs, by bringing in the concept of 10000 KISAN BIOINPUT RESOURCE CENTRES KBRC by the central government scheme.

If the Government can really succeed in making this venture reach farmers by avoiding spurious products thus supporting both natural and organic farming using lesser inputs and increasing the yields sustainable way, will lead to the next global green revolution using climate resilient solutions without giving much scope of the MNCs to lead the change to their pallet. I recommend the startups be given headships to lead this 10000 KBRCs to reach out innovative solutions to farmers at a much more affordable price.

Hope this time farmers will be wise to choose the inputs that they opt for without getting mislead and use the Government subsidized channels to grow healthy produce, residue-free. It will be also a great vista for these residue-free quality produce to be exported. The GOBARDHAN scheme with an investment of 10000 crores is another boost to promote a circular economy making renewable energy with organic compost in all rural centers.

Ultimately, I personally appreciate all the efforts of the Indian Government, in making farmers self-reliant to achieve self-sufficiency in food production meeting the growing population’s emphasis on biological agriculture. Such schemes also promote the Indian Agripreneurs to lead and work in a Win-Win mode with farmers thus increasing farm produce sustainably and doubling farmers’ income become a reality.

Remembering a Sanskrit shloka –  “Shunam Nah Phaalaa Vi Krssantu Bhuumim Shunam Kiinaashaa Abhi Yantu Vaahaih” Meaning –  May the Ploughshare making Furrows on the Earth bring Welfare and Prosperity to all, May the Farmer driving the Oxen bring Welfare and Prosperity to all.
